ARLINGTON, VA. – Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation raised $49,325 through the Washington Capitals Green Auction held on March 14, 15 and 17. All proceeds will benefit the Anacostia Waterfront Trust with $5,000 being earmarked to the Anacostia Watershed Society.
The MSE Foundation auction featured autographed green jerseys and pucks with green Capitals logos on them. During warm ups, the players wore St. Patrick’s Day themed Capitals jerseys which were then signed and auctioned off.
Eighteen jerseys sold for more than $1,000, with the Justin Williams jersey receiving the highest bid at $4,650. The Evgeny Kuznetsov jersey sold for $4,100 and the framed, autographed team puck set sold for $3,000.
Created in 2013, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards. MSE Foundation is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball and hockey, education and scholarship, pediatric health and fitness, military and veterans' affairs and hunger and homelessness.
The Anacostia Waterfront Trust’s mission is to work with stakeholders, public and private, to catalyze and support the creation of a world-class waterfront along the Anacostia River. There are three related aspects: to support the District of Columbia and the National Park Service with programming and capital investments to create an outstanding, 21st century public civic space adjacent to the Anacostia; to support activities to restore water quality consistent with a watershed strategic vision and plan; and to support activities to create diverse, healthy, exemplary neighborhoods near the Anacostia.
