Capitals Casino Night Presented by Leonsis Foundation Raises More Than $280,000 for Charity 

ARLINGTON, Va. – More than 400 fans helped Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and the Washington Capitals raise nearly $285,000 for charity at the sixth Capitals Casino Night presented by Leonsis Foundation on Nov. 29 at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, Va. 

Casino NightCasino Night featured the entire team along with coaches and alumni participating in casino games with fans. There also was a raffle and silent auction featuring game-used equipment and autographed memorabilia as well as a live auction featuring interactive experiences with Capitals players and coaches. 

The money raised will benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation. Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards. MSE is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball, football and hockey, education and scholarship, pediatric health and fitness, military and veterans' affairs and hunger and homelessness. 

Casino Night Doors opened at 7 p.m. and VIP ticket holders were able to mingle with the entire team along with coaches and owners. After the VIP reception, the players entered the ballroom casino, which featured blackjack, craps, roulette, Texas hold ’em and slots. 

Some of the most popular auction items at the event included: 

A First Star of the Night Dinner: Four fans will join Caps forward T.J. Oshie and his wife Lauren and defenseman Karl Alzner and his wife Mandy at award-winning restaurant Masseria. The restaurant recently earned a prestigious Michelin star within Washington, D.C.’s first-ever guide. Dinner will be at the chef’s table and will include a five-course tasting menu with a wine pairing from boutique vintners chosen by Advanced Sommelier, David Kurka. Winners will be treated to modern interpretations of cherished dishes and authentic favorites from chef Nicholas Stefanelli ($10,000). 

Bowl a Perfect Game with the Caps: Five fans will bowl with Capitals forwards Nicklas Backstrom, Andre Burakovsky, Marcus Johansson and Tom Wilson and goaltender Philipp Grubauer at Pinstripes DC in Georgetown. The group will enjoy bowling plus appetizers and drinks courtesy of Pinstripes ($9,500). 

Casino NightTop Capitals silent auction items included a 2015-16 Autographed Capitals Victory Puck Set ($1,950), a game use-stick autographed by Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin ($1,850) and a Washington Capitals framed, autographed puck set ($1,700). Top items overall in the silent auction included a Fairmont Bermuda travel package ($4,050) and a New York City travel package with tickets to Hamilton on Broadway ($4,000).
