The Caps' Better Halves raised a record $51,950 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation through their annual gift basket auction held at the Capitals game against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday, Feb. 24.
The Caps' Better Halves created 22 gift baskets, one for each player and one for the coaching staff, filled with their favorite things, autographed items and jerseys. All of the gift baskets sold for $1,000 or more, and 10 sold for $2,000 or more with the Winnik basket selling for the most at $7,850.
Created in 2013, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and the Baltimore Brigade.
