Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and Washington Mystics Host Flashes of Hope Event at Capital One Arena

September 8, 2017

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation hosted families affiliated with Flashes of Hope during a Washington Mystics practice on Aug. 23. Flashes of Hope families had a chance to watch practice and enjoyed Happy Meals for lunch courtesy of McDonald’s. Following practice Mystics players Elena Della Donne, Emma Meesseman and Asia Taylor joined the families in a basketball-themed Flashes of Hope photo shoot. Prior to the photo shoot, the families had chance to meet members of the team and play on the Mystics court.

“It’s huge to give back to the community, and I feel like we can be really inspiring women,” said Mystics guard Elena Della Donne. “It’s great just to interact and get to know [the families].”

Flashes of Hope is a nonprofit organization that changes the way children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses see themselves through the gift of photography and raises money for pediatric cancer research. MSE Foundation currently helps fund the Flashes of Hope chapters in Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and the Baltimore Brigade. MSE Foundation is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact on the community: youth basketball, football and hockey; education and scholarship; pediatric health and fitness; military and veterans' affairs; and hunger and homelessness.
