The Caps' Better Halves raised $47,900 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation through their annual gift basket auction held at the Capitals game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday, Feb. 4.
The Caps' Better Halves created 23 gift baskets, one for each player and one for head coach Barry Trotz, filled with their favorite things, autographed items and jerseys. Nearly all the gift baskets sold for $1,000 or more, and seven sold for $2,000 or more with the Oshie basket selling for the most at $7,100.
Created in 2013, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and Baltimore Brigade. MSE Foundation is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball, football and hockey; education and scholarship; pediatric health and fitness; military and veterans' affairs; and hunger and homelessness.
