The Washington Capitals raised $15,440 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation through the team’s Stadium Series Puck Surprise, which took place at the Caps game against the Nashville Predators on Apr. 5. The fundraiser featured 386 pucks incorporating the Stadium Series, Caps and Toronto Maple Leafs logos in a special design as part of the 2017-18 Puck Surprise Series. The pucks were signed by various Capitals players and sold for $40 each. Fans lined up on the concourse to purchase the pucks as soon as they went on sale when the doors opened to Capital One Arena. A limited number of pucks were available online to purchase through Handbid.com.
Charlie Engelkemier, Matthew Lee, Carl Scheffer, Nathan Statz and Justin Walls were the Stadium Series Puck Surprise winners. The five winners selected unsigned pucks and got to meet head coach Barry Trotz after the Caps game. Trotz signed their pucks, took photos with the winners and answered several questions.
All proceeds from the Stadium Series Puck Surprise benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the official charity of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and Baltimore Brigade.
The Capitals would like to congratulate our Stadium Series Puck Surprise winners and thank all the fans who helped make it a success.
