Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation teamed up with Playworks, Washington, D.C., to host its second annual “Flag Football Extravaganza” at Upshur Park in northwest D.C. on June 13. More than 50 students from Playworks partner schools joined students from Bancroft Elementary School to participate in learn to play flag football drills led by Playworks coaches. Washington Valor players Michael Bamiro and Devonte Danzey helped instruct students during the drills and head-to-head scrimmages.
Students learned flag football skills at three stations, including receiving, running and “flag tag.” Rotating through the stations, students also enjoyed Bancroft’s field day celebration activities, including several enthusiastic tug of war contests.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and the Baltimore Brigade.
