The Caps' Better Halves raised $50,800 for Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation through their annual gift basket auction held at the Capitals game against the New York Islanders on Friday, Jan. 18.
The Caps' Better Halves created 24 gift baskets, one for each player, filled with their favorite things, autographed items and jerseys. All the gift baskets sold for $1,000 or more, and 11 sold for $2,000 or more with the Burakovsky basket selling for the most at $3,750.
Created in 2013, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards, Baltimore Brigade and Capital City Go-Go. MSE Foundation is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball, football and hockey; education and scholarship; pediatric health and fitness; military and veterans' affairs; and hunger and homelessness.
