Wizards License Plates - Maryland

MARYLAND:

If you are a registered driver in the state of Maryland, then you are eligible to sign-up for a Wizards organizational plate, the official Maryland license plate of the Washington Wizards. 

While showing your spirit and displaying the Wizards license plate, you also will be helping charity. A portion of the one-time $50 fee for each Wizards license plate will benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) Foundation. Specifically, $25 will be tax-deductible. 

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Valor and Wizards and Baltimore Brigade. As these teams now fall under the Monumental Sports & Entertainment umbrella, aligning their causes and unifying their giving enables us to have the greatest impact on the community. MSE Foundation is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact on the community: youth basketball, football and hockey; education and scholarship; pediatric health and fitness; military and veterans' affairs; and hunger and homelessness. Maryland Application Process 

To apply for a Wizards Maryland license plate, please follow the steps below:

· Download the application form HERE.

· Complete the application form in its entirety. Be sure to have the owner and co-owner (if applicable) of the vehicle sign where appropriate and provide all necessary vehicle information.

· Prepare payment via check or credit card in the amount of $50. Checks should be made payable to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation. If you are using a credit card, please complete the credit card authorization form. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted.

· Submit your completed application form and full payment.

When Your Plates Arrive

· Receive your license plate, which will be issued by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

· Return the license plates you were originally issued to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). You can return your original plates in person to any MVA branch office, including express offices, or mail them to the MVA Central Refund Tag Return (CRTR) Unit, 6601 Ritchie Highway, N.E., Glen Burnie, MD 21062. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Wizards license plate for my passenger car, multi-purpose vehicle or truck? Yes, Wizards license plates may be displayed on passenger cars, multipurpose vehicles (i.e., Jeeps, Blazers, motor homes) and trucks up to and including one ton.

Can I get a Wizards license plate for my motorcycle? No, Wizards license plates are not available for motorcycles.

Can I get a Wizards license plate for my boat or trailer? No, Wizards license plates are not available for boats or trailers.

I have a disability plate. Can I get a Wizards disability license plate? No, these plates are not available. If you elect to purchase a Wizards license plate, you will need to use a disability hangtag with your Wizards license plate.

What will the Wizards license plate look like? The Wizards Maryland license plate will include the Wizards logo in full color, two stacked letters spelling out “WZ” and four numeric characters as well as “Washington Wizards” along the bottom of the plate.

How will license plate numbers be assigned? License plate numbers will be assigned in sequential order and is up to the discretion of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

Can I make a special request for my plate number, such as “0220”? No, requests for specific plate number cannot be made. License plate numbers will be assigned in sequential order. Please note that “0000” will not be issued as a valid Wizards license plate.

Can I request that my Wizards license plate be personalized, such as “WIZ1”? No, personalized (vanity) Wizards plates with specific letters and numbers are not available.

How much does it cost to order the Wizards license plate? The Washington Wizards plate costs $50, payable to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation. This is a one-time fee and is separate from any annual vehicle registration fees. You must renew your current vehicle registration with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Association when it is due. Beyond the $50 there are no additional costs. This fee includes the cost to ship the license plate to you. Your order will include a set of two plates – one for the front of your car and one for the back of your car.

Is the entire $50 fee tax deductible? Half of the $50 fee is tax deductible. The fee can be broken down as follows: $25 will be paid to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) and $25 will be a tax-deductible donation to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.

Does the $50 cover vehicle registration fees? No, the license plate fee you are paying is not part of your vehicle registration renewal.

Can I make an additional tax-deductible donation to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation at the time I pay for my Wizards license plate? Yes, for your convenience, you may indicate a one-time monetary contribution that you wish to make to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation on your Wizards license plate application form. When you include your payment via check or credit card, please add the license plate fee of $50 to this contribution amount for your total purchase.

What are my payment options? The $50 one-time fee for a Wizards license plate can be paid via credit card or a check made out to Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation. The following credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Please do not mail a cash payment.

If I pay by credit card, will I receive a receipt for the credit card transaction? Yes, you will be emailed a credit card receipt to the email you provide on the form for the charge of your Wizards license plate.

How long will it take to receive my Wizards license plate once I submit my order? The Wizards process applications and payment in batches. The Wizards send in completed applications and payment to the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) for processing on a monthly basis. Upon receipt of your application by the MVA, your plates will be issued from the Glen Burnie office, which processes plate orders on a daily basis. Plates will typically be received in approximately two to four weeks.

Where will my Wizards license plates be sent? Plates will be mailed directly to the address on your application.

What do I do with the license plates originally issued by the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA)? Upon receipt of your Wizards license plates, please return the license plates you were originally issued to the MVA. You can return your original plates in person to any MVA branch office, including express offices, or mail them to the MVA Central Refund Tag Return (CRTR) Unit, 6601 Ritchie Highway, N.E., Glen Burnie, MD 21062. The MVA suggests sending them by certified mail with return receipt requested.
